Protect the Beauty! Don't Pick the Spring Flowers!

The sun warms the earth, nature awakens from its winter sleep, and the world around comes to life and turns vivid. Sunbeams rouse the adornments of the forests – the first heralds of spring. We receive this priceless gift of nature every spring.

The blanket of snow gives way to a many-coloured one, and the delicate spring flowers greet humankind. The springtime smile of these wondrous early-blooming plants amazes everyone.

The common habitats of this ecological group of plants are ravines, hillsides, forests and gardens. Their flowering expanse can be compared to a costume ball at which snow-white snowdrops, violet crocuses, blue violets, and the bright-yellow marsh marigold and cinquefoil welcome us to the spring season.

In all, the tender embodiments of springtime beauty number about 500 species, and most of these spring flowers are listed in the Red Book of Ukraine. It is forbidden to pick or dig them up. Every child should know that flowering glades must not be destroyed or trampled, but rather protected and admired.

The crocus symbolises hope and rebirth, for it blooms even on the snow. In the language of flowers it is a symbol of happiness and joy.

Carelessness and indifference destroy the beauty of our environment. Do not pick the spring flowers! Do not support the sellers of spring-flower bouquets. Let us protect these enchanting beauties!
