The high-speed ski runs of Slavske are among the most popular in the Carpathians. The "Zakhar Berkut" mountain-ski resort is located to the north-east of the village of Volosianka. 9 thousand metres of snowy descents of various levels of difficulty are served by 3 button lifts and one chairlift. Over the course of 50 minutes a distance of 2,710 metres is covered, with a height difference of 552 metres.
The cableway has been in operation since 2005.
The lower station, the drive station, is located by the entrance to the grounds of the "Zakhar Berkut" tourist complex; the upper one is on the summit of Mount Zvorets.
156 two-seater chairs, resembling swings, carry 320 people an hour up to a height of 1,223 metres.
Even in warm weather, on the long journey by this aerial bridge in the very heart of the Carpathians, warm clothing may be needed, and in sunny weather headwear. An umbrella and a rain cape will not go amiss either. Thunderclouds and sudden showers are not uncommon. Blankets are issued free of charge, against a deposit.
The resort got its name thanks to the novella of the same name by I. Ya. Franko, written on the basis of folk legends. The main character, Zakhar Berkut, is an elder and healer who lived on the territory of Carpathian Rus in the 13th century. In the village of Tukhlia a monument has been set up to this fellow countryman and head of the community, who devoted his life to serving the people.
After the voyage over the caps of the century-old spruces, larches, firs, beeches and ashes, the body is saturated with phytoncides and other natural antibiotics.
On Mount Vysokyi Verkh a panorama of the surrounding villages opens up, all the way to Zakarpattia, and the peaks of the mountains Yalyna, Yaroshyshche, Plyshka and other ridges can be seen.
For travellers, boards with instructions and tourist information have been prepared.
At the service of the holidaymakers, bicycles and quad bikes are provided, and you can ride horses.
The sightseeing attraction is intensified during a flight in a hot-air balloon.
The odyssey over the coniferous expanses and the contemplation of the Carpathian landscapes arouse an unheard-of appetite, which is satisfied with dishes of the national cuisine in the "Vysokyi Verkh" cafe-kolyba.
The admiration for the beauty of the age-old forests and the bluish hilliness of the majestic mountains is repeated on the way back to the lower landing platform.
At the end of the excursion, in the "Pysana Krynytsia" cafe-kolyba, teas of fragrant Carpathian herbs are offered.
Travellers can stay at the "Zakhar Berkut" hotel in rooms of the "luxe", "semi-luxe" and "standard" classes.
