Dolyna. A town of oil workers in the Boyko region

I have been to Dolyna in the Ivano-Frankivsk region several times. I will write about one trip to the "Boykivshchyna" local history museum.
Through this district centre, home to 20,000 people, runs the highway Lviv — Ivano-Frankivsk — Chernivtsi. A ring interchange connects the town with Zakarpattia.
By the main roundabout you are greeted by a sculpture of the Archangel Michael, mounted on a column. This monument is called "To the Fighters for the Ukrainian State" and is the town's calling card.

An atypical Ternopil. A town with a future

I fell in love with Ternopil as long as 30 years ago. Even then it was un-Soviet, unlike the other regional centres, and I marked it out for myself as a town that ranks among the three best cities of Ukraine.

Staryi Sambir

Being in Sambir I learnt that when there was tatar-mongol invasion, people who settled here gave this name in memory of a town burnt down by enemy. The first Sambir was on fire and arose from ashes a few times, becoming Staryi Sambir. And this is not surprising as it was founded in 11th century. What kind of life is Staryi Sambir living now at the threshold of it’s millennium?
